Custom embroidered motorbike artwork.

I have recently been asked to create this custom motorbike embroidery for an Etsy customer.
Using a personalised number plate of the recipients initials and date of birth.
I really enjoyed doing this and think it will make a wonderful gift.
I can get these pieces dry mounted and framed, or sent unframed like this one (the customer lives in America and wanted to save on postage).

Any of my car illustrations can be interpreted into embroideries and personalised.

Where The Lost Things Go - by Tom Bell

This is a children's picture book my boyfriend has just had published which is now available to buy in Hardback and Paperback.

This is the synopsis from the book...

Have you ever lost a sock? One minute it might be swirling around inside the washing machine, and the next…it's gone! But even if it was your favourite sock, there are always plenty of others in the drawer. But have you ever lost a toy> Maybe it was your favourite toy. It's often the favourite toys, isn't it? And favourite toys can't easily be replaced… So, where do the lost things go?

There are 6 characters in the book, they are all individual with their own personalities, this book introduces you to them and their magical world at the bottom of the garden and takes you on an adventure as they collect and give a home to lost things.

I won't give too much away about the story, but I think the book is lovely and the illustrations are amazing.

(but I may be biased!).

Tom is currently having an exhibition of his paintings from the book which are oil paintings at The Harley Gallery in Welbeck, Nottinghamshire.

He is having a book signing at the gallery on the 5th of February where you can buy the book and meet Tom to sign your copy. There are also colouring sheets for the kids to colour and a video showing how Tom draws the characters.

My first embroidery hoop. This is an 8" embroidery hoop artwork piece, the mini cooper is machine embroidered onto oatmeal linen, with patches of appliques, hand embroidery and 2 little mother of pearl buttons.

I've made my cushions. I've been wanting to translate my drawings into textiles for some time and finally got enough time in my week off to do it, I made 4 cushions, using my Citroen 2CV, Ferrari, VW camper van and Mini cooper illustrations. I think I love the Ferrari and 2CV best.
They are all now for sale in my Etsy or Folksy shop.

I've done 3 textile pictures using the illustrations of my Mini, Beetle and Fiat 500, I have machine embroidered them over patches of appliques and then added in some stitch work in coloured embroidery threads. These have been framed in bespoke solid oak frames, with snow white mounts, and I think they look really nice, I especially like the Mini cooper.

Since leaving Uni last summer I found out that I have been awarded a First Class Honours for Textile Design and I've been busy doing freelance illustration work for a number of companies. I have had an industry placement at Sainsbury's Tu Clothing working with the babywear design team and I have exhibited at The Hub gallery in Lincolnshire and set up an internet shop where my illustrations are available to buy.

My work was displayed at New Designers in July '06, I got quite a lot of feedback and interest from potential employers. I have since been for interviews and had a industry work placement with Sainsbury's Tu babywear department.

I have also been invited to exhibit my work at 'The Hub' in Lincolnshire in 'The Class of 2006' where they have selected graduates from the East Midlands from different design disciplines.

New images of my final project

Here are some images of my design work for my final degree show. Click on the image to view a slideshow. The theme is 'French vintage tourist'. I've done illustrations of architecture using collage and watercolours. I've also used collage to create houses and shoes from scanned vintage fabrics. For the final show I have appliqued and embellished a vintage tablecloth, made a bed throw out of vintage napkins with my design work sewn on to each napkin, made a full, panelled fifties style skirt, a button through top, 2 shirts, a pair of shoes and various ribbons. It seems to be getting a lot of attention as I'm putting it up by people walking past, my illustrations are attracting people and I've even had offers from people to buy prints of them!

Paris Feb '06

Trip to Paris with uni to go to Premiere Vision and do some research for our final projects, go shopping and see the sights.

Electronics

This is the small project I did before I started the big final project. I drew lots of small electrical things such as light fittings, mobile phones, remote controls. I then used photoshop to add colour and chose the colour scheme red, pale blue, navy and cream. It was suggested that I could draw more household items and make bags that the items would fit into. I made seven drawstring bags altogether, and they have created quite a lot of interest from the 1st and 2nd years, so I'm quite pleased with them.

Vintage Style Interiors

This is a slideshow presentation to show the work so far from my final project. During the seminar when this was seen it was discussed whether my work was more suited to fashion or interiors, a lot of people thought both so I think I'm going to design for both and see how it goes.

Beside The Seaside - RSA Postage Stamps

'Beside the Seaside' is the title for the R.S.A bursary award postage stamp question. I chose to do the postage stamp question rather than the textile fashion design question because I thought it suited my work better, as my work tends to be small and normally quite illustrative. I used photoshop much more on this project than I have done before in my design work which I enjoyed but wouldn't want to use it on my work all the time. I'm pleased with my final designs.
